R. Nicholas Burns is currently Professor of the The Practice of Diplomacy and International Politics, Kennedy School, Harvard University. Ambassador Burns served in the U.S. Foreign Service for 27 years until his retirement in April 2008. He served as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs from 2005 to 2008. From 2001 to 2005, he was the U.S. Ambassador to NATO. Prior to that, he served as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece from 1997 to 2001.
