Entegris Korea promotes our commitment to supporting Korea's growing semiconductor industry with high-quality, contamination-controlled products in the EPnC Magazine June 12, 2019 edition.
Read as John McDaniel, vice president of liquid packaging and dispense business unit, Advanced Material Handling Division, Entegris explains how we are providing innovative clean chemical delivery solutions for the front end through to the back end of the fab.
Summary
Korea is well-recognized for its strengths in IT technology, which is supported by semiconductor technology from Korean chipmakers, such as Samsung and SK Hynix. To produce high-quality semiconductors, it is essential to secure high-purity specialty materials and deliver cleanly.
Entegris was founded in 1966 in the U.S. and is a leader of specialty chemicals and advanced materials solutions in the semiconductor industry. They have production facilities in Hwaseong (JangAn) and Wonju (Munmak) and additionally invested 50 billion KRW in the JangAn facility expansion that will become the world largest specialty materials facility.
"Entegris has three divisions, specialty chemical and engineering materials (SCEM), microcontamination control (MC), and advanced materials handling (AMH). All products in these three categories have different pipelines and competitors, but we are confident that each of the products are in the top three market share globally. Entegris' global revenue is 1.55 billion USD in 2018, within this, Korea covers 16% of our revenue - this is from large semiconductor companies, and their rear industry's demand in Korea," said Entegris. "Our JangAn facility is 20 minutes distance from Pyeongtaek Port, so it is possible to fulfill demands from China, Taiwan, Japan, and South Asia.
Entegris provides 'Clean Chemical Delivery' - which means we provide end-to-end solution to help customers maintain a clean chemical environment with contamination control that will increase product yield and reduce financial loss.
This year's investments will enable HDPE drums (used for specialty chemical transport) to be manufactured in the JangAn facility. From its production to delivery to the customer, chemical materials spend the most time in HDPE drums. Therefore, it is important to ensure HDPE drum cleanliness and maintain chemical purity and integrity. The JangAn expansion will increase the manufacturing capacity of HDPE drums 50% globally. Entegris aims to supply high-purity product to the customer with shorter lead-time."
