What was announced?
Entegris and CMC Materials issued a joint news release on December 15, 2021, announcing that Entegris would acquire CMC Materials to create a global leader in electronic materials.
On June 24, 2022, the two companies reported that China antitrust clearance had been received, and that the transaction had now received all required regulatory clearances.
The close of the transaction was announced on July 6, 2022.

Why is Entegris making this acquisition?
To create the industry’s most comprehensive and innovative end-to-end electronic materials offering.
The addition of CMC Materials’ leading CMP slurries and pads will provide Entegris’ customers with an end-to-end suite of CMP solutions – which also include liquid filtration, post-CMP cleaning chemistries and brushes, CMP pad conditioners, chemical monitoring, and chemical packaging products – while enabling shorter development times for these solutions.
As customers transition to more complex device architectures, there will be increased demand for higher-quality, higher-performing technologies, delivered to market faster. With the addition of CMC Materials, Entegris will have greater capability to innovate and meet evolving customer demand through the deployment of proven, industry-leading commercial, operational, and R&D capabilities.

Where will this business fit within the Entegris corporate structure?
CMC Materials’ CMP Slurries, CMP Pads, and Electronic Chemicals businesses will become part of the newly created Advanced Planarization Solutions (APS) division.
Fully-owned subsidiaries QED, ITS, and performance materials brands Flowchem, Sealweld, Val-Tex, and QED Technologies will become part of the Specialty Chemicals and Engineered Materials (SCEM) division.
