A Practical Framework for Selecting Materials in Cell and Gene Therapy Manufacturing
November 18 | 2:15 p.m.
As cell and gene therapies (CGTs) move toward commercialization, selecting the right ancillary materials (AMs) and single-use systems (SUS) is critical for ensuring product quality and process consistency.
This presentation introduces a practical, consensus-based framework developed by BioPhorum and industry experts to guide CGT manufacturers in making informed, application-specific material choices.
Drawing from global regulatory guidance and industry best practices, the framework incorporates risk-based assessments, critical material attributes, and Quality by Design principles. It offers tools and criteria for evaluating sterility, extractables/leachables, and performance in key applications like cryopreservation and fluid transfer. Ultimately, the framework supports scalable, compliant, and efficient CGT manufacturing.
